President-alect John F. Kennedy and G. Mennon Wiliams hold an informal news conference December 1 loutside the Kennedy residence in the Georgetown section of Washington, D.C. In the first major appoinment to his incoming administration, Mr. Kennedy anneunced the selection of Williams to be Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs. Now serving his sixth term as Governor of the State of Michigan, Williams, 40, will succed Joseph C. Satterthwaite. The new administration will take office January 20, 1961.
